Old Folk's Home

During my schooling years, i helped to organise a trip to the old folks home for my class.

We went to a old folks home called the All Saints home, where I was able to communicate and entertain the elderly so that they will feel less lonely and provide some joy to them.Through small activities like playing games and chatting with them during meals allowed me to understand the older generation better and gain new perspective on life.

Volunteering at the old folks home allowed me to pick up new skills. Initially, I was slightly hesitant of volunteering at the old folks home as it was something I had never done before, however, i stepped out of my comfort zone and I am glad I made that choice. Interacting with the elderly at the home was truly memorable, I had the opportunity to listen to their stories, understood them better. I learnt how to strengthen relationships and better communicate with others. I was also given the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and made friends with them.

I believe this activity benefited me a lot in many ways. For example, I was able to better communicate with my peers despite being an introvert. Hence, I believe I am able to work with people better in the future despite our differences.
