Orphanage

Together with my ex-classmates, we volunteered at an orphanage where we could interact with kids and better understand them.

At the orphanage, it was very exciting for me since I like to interact with children. I got to organise mini games and drawing sessions with the kids there, which made them learn a few skills and make their day more interesting. It was really heart-warming for me and this was also a reason why after volunteering, I took up the challenge of being a swimming coach and a tuition teacher.

Interacting with the kids at the orphanage taught me values such as empathy and leadership. Being able to empathise with these kids truly made me understand that I was privileged to have a complete family, a proper education without having much to worry about. Looking at how these kids yearn for their parents, I realised i should be more than grateful for what I have.

As one of the organisers, I was required to plan small activities where we could interact with the kids in the most efficient way. Planning this was not an easy task as there were many factors to consider. During the volunteer, there were minor hiccups, and as the organiser, I had the responsibility to solve the problem faced. Thankfully, I managed to solve the problem with little difficulty. This allowed me to display the value of leadership.
